Our History

our story...

Our story started in 2009 when l formed Jumpstart Debt Management (Pty) Ltd. which is trading as Debt Sage to counsel individuals struggling with servicing debt and in financial distress. We registered with the National Credit Regulator (NCR) registration number: NCRDC1 295. Feel free to confirm our registration by searching for Debt Sage on the NCR website.

 At that time l had gained 1.5 years of working experience in the financial services sector including debt counselling,  before deciding to go at it alone. We have now amassed more than a decade of experience in the debt counselling industry.

The trade name Debt Sage is named after a street, Sage Street in Kuilsriver, Cape Town, where the idea to start a debt rescue company was conceived. Today, we are privileged to have helped many people realise their financial dreams and changed their lives. We now have a national footprint in providing debt counselling and many more debt management services. Areas we cover and have clients include all major metropolitan cities such as Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Durban, and East London. We take applications for debt counselling across South Africa.

The word Sage basically means someone who is wise or exhibits signs of wisdom or intelligence. We would like to believe that at Debt Sage we are a bunch of such people with the Sage factor. Our aim is to equip and empower our clients on how to get out of debt and live debt-free.

Our logo is inspired by a rescuing kite. This icon symbolises the freedom of living a future that is debt-free and full of personal growth made possible by working together with debt counsellors at Debt Sage and undergoing debt rescue solutions and debt management support services offered.
